Nord-Toulouse: destroy the power cables of the future Bordeaux/Toulouse high-speed line (France)

Communiqué from the Group of Enraged Irreverent Cormorants

For several months now, we, the Cormorants of Saint-Jory, have been welcoming zadists to our little forest to defend our meagre patch of nature, one of the few still left here, squeezed between shopping centers, industrial zones and expressways. We’re surviving as best we can, and last year we learned that this habitat would be destroyed to make way for a high-speed rail link that will save a few minutes for a handful of human beings. Apparently, for them, this represents progress.

For the fourth time, on Monday April 7, we saw men arrive in our habitat, all dressed in ocean blue, accompanied by iron monsters who had come to destroy the cabins of our ZAD protectors, lay waste to the soil that feeds us and uproot the young trees that sheltered us. We know this is just a taste of what awaits us here.

So, overcome with anger, we gathered in a Cormorant general assembly. Knowing that our zadist friends were going on vacation, we decided to intervene on the tentacular electrical supply system: thick cables encased in red plastic tubes laid all along the tracks.

On the night of April 7 to 8, following the 4th round of destruction of the ZAD, we organized ourselves into a swarm, beaks covered in our best balaclavas, and threw two tubes onto the rails in retaliation. The cables inside were cut by the first train of the morning.

This sabotage, like that south of Bordeaux, is a meagre response to the disaster that threatens us all. The profound change needed for our survival will not come from our executioners.

In the name of all the animals threatened by this high-speed rail link, we invite kindred spirits to pursue other sabotages along their route.

Nice (Alpes-Maritimes): electrical sabotage on the rise -France

After Cannes, Nice targeted by electrical sabotage

Le Monde/Le Parisien, May 25, 2025 (excerpt)

The day after a power cut in and around Cannes, a transformer was deliberately set on fire in Nice on Saturday night. According to a police source and the public prosecutor’s office, the transformer in question is located in the Moulins district, to the west of the city.

“On May 25, 2025, at around 2 a.m., an electrical transformer on Avenue Paul Montel in Nice was deliberately damaged and set on fire,” the public prosecutor’s office said. “Traces of tires” were found, and a source close to the case referred to ‘a broken door [of the transformer’s premises]’.

Some 45,000 households were temporarily without power in Nice and the neighboring towns of Saint-Laurent-du-Var and Cagnes-sur-Mer, said Enedis. Nice’s streetcar network was briefly impacted, with a delayed resumption in the early morning, and the airport was temporarily without power. By 6 a.m., power had been restored.

A flagrante delicto investigation has been opened for “destruction by fire in an organized gang” and entrusted to the judicial police. For the time being, there is nothing to link this fire with the events of Saturday, when 160,000 people were left without power not far from Cannes.

RTE to step up security at sensitive sites after sabotage causing widespread power cuts
Var Matin, May 25, 2025

Following a series of targeted attacks on electricity infrastructures in the Alpes-Maritimes and Var regions, network operator RTE is stepping up surveillance of sensitive sites in the face of an unprecedented threat.

A new guarding measure has been deployed at certain sites deemed to be at risk. These human reinforcements complement existing security measures, including fencing, video surveillance and other confidential means of detection “which we cannot detail for obvious reasons”, says RTE.

This switch to active security comes after three attacks in two days: a substation set on fire in Saint-Cassien, within the grounds of the Tanneron plant, on Friday night; a pylon sawed down in Villeneuve-Loubet in the steep Vanade sector, leading to a massive power cut on Saturday morning; and a transformer burnt to the ground west of Nice, on Saturday night. These potentially coordinated actions targeted key points on the network, causing significant disruption despite rapid restoration of service.

Permanent surveillance of pylons impossible

The network managed by RTE extends over 106,000 kilometers of extra-high-voltage lines, supported by a network of pylons scattered throughout the country, often in the middle of nowhere.

This extensive model makes permanent surveillance impossible. And while electrical substations – some 2,800 in France, including dozens, if not hundreds, in the Alpes Maritimes and Var regions – are easier to monitor, not all can benefit from the same level of protection.

Priority is therefore given to the most strategic ones, identified in conjunction with local authorities and law enforcement agencies.

Individuals who knew about the security loopholes?

“Existing tools, such as the sensors installed on the lines, can detect anomalies, but without specifying their origin”, explains RTE. In the event of an incident, teams must therefore travel to the site to observe the damage, which can be complicated when access is difficult, as was the case in Villeneuve-Loubet. The choice of this isolated pylon also suggests a meticulously prepared action, carried out by individuals familiar with the terrain and the network’s vulnerabilities.

Faced with these limitations, RTE adjusted its strategy. In addition to reinforcing human presence, discussions are underway with public authorities to improve prevention and response in the event of intrusion or sabotage. But protecting a network designed to transport electricity, and not to resist targeted attacks, remains a real headache… Its structure, by definition open and distributed throughout the country, cannot unfortunately be secured like an enclosed building.

Arson targeting Fort Nelson RCMP station

The daily humiliations of life under state domination do not always go unanswered, sometimes people decide that enough is enough. An individual chose to target specific culprits in broad daylight on may 22nd, setting fire to the exterior wall of the RCMP detachment in Fort Nelson with officers still inside.

The occupants must have been surprised when the air intake/air conditioner pulled a “considerable amount of smoke inside” which resulted in an evacuation of the building. We are sad to learn that the fire was extinguished, a suspect arrested, and this wretched building continues to stand.

In a region pilfered by logging, LNG fracking and the inseparable violence of poverty, alienation, and extractivism revolt is no surprise. We hope this one of many more threads to come in a tapestry of resistance against the control of the canadian state.

Bordeaux (Gironde) France: fire at TGV construction site

Bordeaux Sud: AFSB (high-speed line) construction workers set fire to electrical connections with a cigarette!

They’d been warned it was serious to smoke near an area as flammable as the Bordeaux-Toulouse high-speed line construction site. But they wouldn’t listen.

It’s true that since the A69 project was halted by Toulouse’s administrative court, there’s plenty to be nervous about. There’s a whiff of unemployment about the LGV… And it can’t be easy to be involved in a project that received over 90% negative opinions during the public inquiry. You can’t feel at your best! It’s like feeling like you’ve betrayed your own and are fattening up the very people who exploit workers more and more. But don’t complain when there’s no money left for public services. As JP Farandou of the SNCF so aptly put it: “the high-speed train is not a public service”… And yet, it’s our tax money that’s going to pay for this high-speed line. It’s beyond comprehension… In any case, this is the result of their recklessness:

SNCF deplores the delays and cancellations caused by this event. Usually, they encourage them through their strategic choices, leaving existing lines to deteriorate further and further. But no! It deplores them… If ever the staff of the companies working on these sites are reminded that there is a “right of withdraw” allowing them to recover a little lost honor under the ballast.

Saint-Chamond (Loire): action against the arms industry (France)

[On May 7, 2025 in Saint-Chamond (Loire), the electrical station at the entrance to the town received a nocturnal visit. Responsible for converting high-voltage electricity into low-voltage, with its cables and large transformer, it was partially set on fire at around 3 a.m., plunging part of the town and its businesses into darkness. Sans Nom reported on this attack here, and three days later it was claimed against the arms dealers in a communiqué which we republish below. It should be noted that a “KO KNDS” tag was left at the scene, which the prefecture spokesmen were careful not to specify].

KO KNDS?

In the early hours of May 7 in Saint-Chamond, we took action against a transformer station. A KO KNDS tag was left behind.

We hope to have interrupted the power supply to the city’s southern industrial zone. We particularly targeted the eco-district, formerly an arms production site. Renovated and certified, this area now boasts children’s playgrounds, bars, shops and restaurants… Erasing the past? Not quite. On the other side of the consumerist inferno, the metallurgical eco-system has been modernized. These include Atlante (electric vehicles), Marlin (automotive equipment), SICAF (industrial automation), Arcelormittal (steel giant) and, as a historic legacy, KNDS. KNDS stands for KMW+Nexter Defense Systems.

Still unclear? Let’s clarify. The company was born of the merger of two major land armament groups. It sells its products to over 50 armies worldwide. Its favorite weapon: the CAESAR self-propelled gun. Its favorite vehicle is the Leopard 2 battle tank. In addition to artillery and tanks, KNDS develops military robots and remotely operated munitions. In October 2024, it opened a new subsidiary in Kiev, Ukraine, to produce and maintain its lethal technologies in the field. While bodies fall daily, mowed down by western and eastern states, KNDS is making its return on experience and investment. Without arms dealers, neither this war, nor the Palestinian massacre, nor so many other bloody tragedies would take place. Tonight, we wanted to attack one of these merchants’ hideouts, modestly, with no regard for the commercial and industrial abjectness of the surrounding area. Paradoxically, this is what we wanted to bring to light, by turning off part of the city.

PS: And let’s not forget, alongside the arms dealers, the states, proto-states and their proxies. As long as a single one of them remains standing, there will be no peacetime, no wartime. Only an era of oppression and repression.

Waymo Attacked in San Francisco

On the 77th anniversary of the Nakba, the windows of a Waymo self-driving taxi were smashed in San Francisco.

This attack was carried out as a small direct action against Alphabet, which is complicit in the Zionist occupation’s AI-assisted genocide through Google’s Project Nimbus. May it contribute to continued and escalated attacks against the technologies of the imperialist war machine, which are the same technologies used for surveillance and social control everywhere. Free Palestine, death to AI, glory to the martyrs.

Activists target Elbit accountants and investors

Edwards and JP Morgan offices defaced with paint, windows smashed

~ Cristina Sykes ~

Palestine Action says its activists targeted Edwards Accountants in Birmingham and JP Morgan at Victoria Embankment in London early this morning (May 14th) due to their involvement with Israeli arms manufacturer Elbit. Both company’s offices were covered in red paint, and the front glass doors of JP Morgan were shattered.

Edwards Accountants are the listed accountants for Elbit Systems UK and its subsidiaries, whilst JP Morgan hold Elbit shares worth over $22m. This week, financial reports showed JP Morgan had reduced their investment in Elbit Systems by over 53%. However, they still remain a major investor in the company which is a major supplier of weapons for the Israeli military, which is committing genocide in Gaza.

Elbit Systems, which is the primary target of Palestine Action’s campaign, supplies over 85% of Israel’s military drone fleet and land-based equipment, as well as bombs, missiles and other weaponry.

Yemeni Armed Forces Declare Haifa Port Under Naval Siege

The Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) announced on Monday the imposition of a naval blockade on Haifa Port in occupied Palestine, declaring the strategic Zionist-controlled port a new target. The move comes in response to the continued and escalating Zionist aggression against Gaza and its blockade-induced starvation campaign.

In an official statement, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the YAF, cautioned all maritime companies whose vessels are docked at or en route to Haifa to treat the announcement and future warnings with utmost seriousness.

This escalation follows the successful enforcement of a blockade on the Port of Umm al-Rashrash — also known as Eilat — which ceased operations under Yemeni military pressure.

Saree: We will not hesitate to escalate

Brigadier General Saree reaffirmed that the Yemeni military will not hesitate to escalate further in support of the Palestinian people and their Resistance. He stressed that all military actions against the occupation would only cease if the aggression on Gaza ends and the blockade is fully lifted.

“The armed forces will not hesitate to take any additional necessary measures in solidarity with Gaza,” Saree declared. He also underscored that Sanaa’s position remains firm in backing Palestine’s right to resist occupation and systematic oppression.

Aerial and naval targeting of the occupation intensifies

The Haifa Port blockade is the latest phase in an expanding military campaign led by Yemen. On May 4, the Yemeni Armed Forces declared their intention to impose a complete aerial blockade on Zionist authorities by targeting the Ben Gurion Airport.

Subsequent reports confirmed multiple strikes targeting Ben Gurion, leading to evacuations and forcing settlers into shelters. These operations were described as a direct response to the occupation’s siege on Gaza and its ongoing airstrikes across the Strip.

Airline warnings and Ben Gurion strikes continue

In parallel with military actions, the Yemeni leadership in Sanaa has issued repeated warnings to international airlines, urging them to avoid Zionist airspace entirely. These warnings have coincided with a string of attacks that disrupted civilian aviation and highlighted Yemen’s growing regional military influence.

Switzerland/Germany : Sabotaging capitalist normality – Attack on the railway infrastructure (Border zone between Switzerland and Germany)

Sabotaging capitalist normality – Attack on the rail infrastructure

During the night of 9th April, we set fire to railway signal and electric cables with a number of incendiary devices in various places near Basel.

The cops and the media have kept quiet about our action up until now.

Situated on the borders between three countries with maritime links going as far as the North sea, a highly developed rail and motorway network as well as an airport, the town of Basel is a central logistic node for the flux of goods that keep capitalist normality functioning. Given that we have a very low opinion of this state of affairs, we attacked its infrastructure to put a stop to it, at least for a moment.

Our attack was specifically aimed at the transboundary rail transport of goods and people and the rail link to the port of Kleinhüningen. One of the most important north-south links in Europe passes by Basel. The line between Rotterdam and Genoa belongs to the program Trans-European Transport Network and is constantly under expansion. The three Rhine ports of Basel carry out 10% of Switzerland’s foreign trade. About a third of its imports of petroleum products is loaded on to trains and lorries here. One container in four going to Switzerland passes through the ports of Basel. Loaded with merchandise made starting from raw materials plundered from all over the world or construction material with which more and more motorways, banks and jails are being built, the ground is sealed and everything living is buried under a thick layer of concrete.

Pharmaceutical and chemical industries based in Basel also import machinery and materials that they need for the fabrication of products which will then be exported using the same route. Whether it is carcinogenic chemical products of Syngenta or the anticancer drugs of Novartis or Roche, they are two sides of the same coin. Instead of seriously devoting themselves to globally healing illnesses caused in large part by the techno-industrial complex (and even less to attacking their causes), people are linked to a health system orientated above all towards profits of the pharmaceutical groups as well as keeping us fit to be used for work, day after day.

For the smooth functioning of this life-destroying system, the goods transport railways are of major importance. With their logistic, SBB Cargo and DB Cargo [the two operators of rail freight belonging to the Swiss (the SBB/CFF/FSS) and German (the Deutsche Bahn) rail companies respectively; translator’s note] profit from neocolonialism and war. They belong to the military infrastructure.

The Deutsche Bahn transports the military material of the German army and armies of NATO. The deadly freight of the weapons industry needed for forced displacements, devastation of land, genocide and maintenance of the dominant social relations is transported throughout the entire world. Industrialisation and therefore the deepening of the relations of power and the structures of exploitation would certainly not be possible without the intervention of the railways. Still today this technology serves to colonize territories that are not yet developed and render them accessible to capitalist exploitation (for example, the participation of DB in the project Tren Maya in Mexico and the rail link with a new deep water port, in the east of the Brazilian Amazon).
Now, the question could be asked as to why we are attacking precisely rail transport when it is considered to be more respectful of the climate than road transport for example. First and foremost: we have found that the motorways are also shit. We consider nevertheless that the «process of green transformation» is a lying narrative through which there is an attempt to sell us off hope in an ecological future of the system.

The locomotive of progress, being green, will save us from climate catastrophe with technological solutions, we are told, and is CO 2 neutral!

All the same, it is precisely this progress that is the catastrophe. Moreover the fact that it is not less, but more and more CO 2 which is released into the atmosphere, in the name of green energy and climate-friendly mobility, the lithium, the cobalt and the rare earths are being extracted in increasingly large quantities, thereby destroying ecosystems and biotopes. Extractivism is ravaging more and more vast surfaces of Earth and belongs to the same megamachine that offers to the great majority of human beings nothing but an existence in social misery. It is time to put on the emergency brake.

A few more words on the interruption of passenger transport: right next to the railway line stands the prison of Bässlergut, where people are imprisoned in administrative detention with a view to their expulsion, because they break the rules of the world colonial order and are not integrated into the production chain where they were born. Some of them have been on hunger strike various times over the last few months, struggling for freedom.

These structures of control and submission operate here, at the German-Swiss border, even outside the walls of the jail, in the form of real manhunts. Here, in the area of free circulation of people, the federal German cops patrol en masse, to avoid this being misinterpreted as free movement of people. Because, of course, this doesn’t apply to everybody. The workers and the tourists must be transported here. But those who don’t have the good papers, or don’t have any at all, see themselves refused the right to a train journey from Basel to Germany.

We also see our action as part of the struggle against the murderous regime of immigration and borders. We are in solidarity with all those who cross borders in defiance of the murderous politics of Europe.

In the world in which we are living they tell us that everything we have mentioned above is indispensable. If it’s up to us to make the most of our own lives, we will never be able – left to ourselves – to lead a life as good and sure as the one imposed on us. But there are also other tales. Stories of a life outside the logic of utilisation, stories of intergenerational struggles of communities all over the world against oppression, exploitation and the destruction of nature Stories of resistance, mutual aid and solicitude.

These tales are not just ideas, but also possibilities. We believe in these stories and we want to continue to write them. We want to attack the existent to make room for the possible.

Let’s sabotage capitalist normality!

No borders, no nations!
