Mountain Valley Pipeline Resumed With Bleach Corroded Engines – Appalachia, USA

We heard the stays were lifted and construction on the Mountain Valley Pipeline has resumed. I wonder if they’ve noticed some issues with their machines? As they continue to work, bleach eats further and further into their engines. By now, the damage should be done.

Protest alone is not enough. Despite years of Appalachia residents saying they do not want this pipeline-in the courts, through protest, by nonviolent direct action like locking to machines-the project is being pushed through anyways. Join us to stop this pipeline while we still can!

Call to Struggle Around Bartram’s and Against the Proposal for “Cellicon Valley” – Philadelphia, PA

Development is officially moving forward – though very slowly – in destroying the alluring wastelands of Bartram’s North, the wooded riverside area just north of Bartram’s Gardens in Southwest Philly. For years, this area has been a favorite hangout spot for anarchists, ravers, feminist nude sunbathers, and other companions in being up to no good. Within the past eight months, a fence has gone up – twice – around the fields adjacent to the bike path that runs through the area, and a nearby building is slated to be demolished at the end of July. Earlier that month, three surveillance cameras were installed high up along Botanic Ave, the street that leads up to Bartram’s North. An unpermitted rave at Bartram’s in mid-July was reportedly broken up by police, which was to our knowledge the first time cops had kicked a party out of that location.

Modane (Savoie): arson attack on the Lyon-Turin high-speed train construction site

Modane (Savoie): arson attack on the Lyon-Turin high-speed train construction site

Five pieces of construction equipment were damaged by an arson attack on Saturday July 29 in Modane, Savoie. Around 11 p.m., some fifteen firefighters were mobilized to the scene of the incident, a site belonging to the French-Italian state-owned company Telt (Tunnel euralpin Lyon Turin), which is responsible for building the Lyon-Turin rail link.

Bangs from exploding machine tires were heard. The Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne Gendarmerie, in charge of the investigation, said there was no doubt that the fire was deliberate. Four points of ignition were identified on wooden pallets placed under the burnt-out vehicles.

Hamburg (Germany): the precious cables that run along the tracks

Hamburg, the precious cables that run along the tracks

At around 3:30 am on Tuesday July 18 in Elmshorn (20 km north of Hamburg), two gazebos were deliberately set on fire in the immediate vicinity of the tracks. The fire also damaged cables along the tracks.

At around 6.50 a.m., the fire-fighting operation came to an end, and the site of the blaze was cordonned off by the forensic police. Total damage is estimated at 30,000 euros, while the destruction of the cable running the rail system caused widespread disruption to not only regional, but also long-distance train traffic between Hamburg and Kiel until the afternoon.

What struck the investigators was the fact that the gazebos were set alight in two different allotment gardens, both to the east and west of the tracks (i.e. on both sides). At present, the Elmshorn criminal police are seeking witnesses in an investigation into “arson”.

Several hundreds of mink released from a fur farm.

August, Wisconsin USA

received anonymously via email:

“a few nights ago we visited olsen fur farm (smieja) at w22875 state road 121 in independence wisconsin. it’s operational for now, but maybe releasing several hundred mink has a chance to close it for good. we hope many of the mink enjoy their freedom in the wild and that this farm will be unable to breed thousands upon thousands of them in future years. they have an opportunity now to cut their losses and leave the fur industry forever.

fur farms exist only for fashion and profit. though the industry has declined significantly in the past decade, hundreds of thousands of animals are bred and murdered for their fur every year. even if these minks lives in the wild are cut short by nature or human intervention, the farm would have undoubtedly slaughtered them all. there is real joy in bearing witness to these animals getting their first taste of freedom. we hope this action inspires others to take similar action for animals near them. with a little planning and a few cheap tools, you too can liberate hundreds of creatures in a few short hours. until all cages are empty, for humans and non human animals alike. free them ALL”
