A Short Report on Indonesian Squatting by Anarchist Comrades in Borneo

The Space Occupation (Okupasi Ruang also known as temporary squatting or autonomous zone) was organized by comrades in Pontianak (Borneo Island) in the agenda of Citizen Solidarity Against Evictions that occurred in various regions of the archipelago, we realize that this is not the first time citizens have to experience violence and deal with the tools of the State. Therefore, we call for building a more massive solidarity force, even more massively.

Armenian Anarchist Group Rises in Besieged Artsakh

The ongoing Azerbaijani blockade of food, fuel, and medical supplies from reaching the Armenian statelet of Artsakh, also known as Nagorno-Karabakh, and home to around 120,000 people has today triggered the creation of a new anarchist group – Anarchist Artsakh.

The blockade dates back to Soviet-era territorial claims both Azerbaijan and Armenia have to the Nagorno-Karabakh region, which is situated inside Azerbaijan, but in which, ethnic Armenians make up 95 per cent of the population. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, both nations took up arms against one another over the area.

The first Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, (1991-94) left Armenia with the majority of the autonomous zone. Following a 2010 strategic partnership agreement with Azerbaijan Turkey has become a key player in the conflict, supplying Azerbaijan with military aid when fighting broke out again in July 2020. This material support, alongside the aid of Syrian mercenaries, enabled Azerbaijan to recapture swaths of the Nagorno-Karabakh before a ceasefire was brokered by Russia in November 2020. The gains made by Azerbaijan in 2020 left Nagorno-Karabakh surrounded.

Anarchist Artsakh:

The group, in their first post on Telegram stated, “Comrades! A new front of anarchist resistance is maturing. This time Artsakh. For almost a year now, the fascist government of Azerbaijan has kept the local Armenian population under complete blockade, seeking forced submission from the Armenians.

The dictatorial power of Ilham Aliyev is actually starving our people in order to subjugate them, assimilate them and deprive them of the freedom for which we have fought for a very long time. In the territories occupied in 2020, the occupiers are destroying our cultural objects in order to erase our traces from our own lands.

We already had the sad experience of living under the rule of the Azerbaijani leadership in the 1980s – 1990s. We will no longer allow the fascists to enslave our people. We – Armenian anarchists – will fight for the freedom of our (and not only our) people. Most likely, the Azerbaijani tyrants will soon begin a ground operation on the territory of Artsakh. We are trying to organise ourselves to resist the onslaught of the imperialists.

Comrades! We ask you to support us in our fight. After all, solidarity is our main weapon. Help spread the word about the chaos going on. Glory and freedom to all oppressed peoples!”

The current siege is the result of the December 2022 blocking of the Lachin Corridor, a lifeline between Armenia and Artsakh by Azerbaijan, which claims that Armenia has been using the corridor to smuggle arms.

A Bash Back! reportback from a group of janky & rowdy queers who had a gay ol time

“Queers are marked as victims while violence is understood to be only the tool of the masters. The queer anarchist project embodied by Bash Back! Is first and foremost a refusal of victimhood and a reclamation of the violence taken from us by progressive ideology and used against us by queerbashers and the State. It was a crucial shift for Bash Back! to break with those who refused to recognize the importance of this reclamation. It served to cohere and solidify the insurrectional queer tendency around the question of violence…” ~ back cover of Queer Ultraviolence, 2012, Fray Baroque & Tegan Enelli.

Bash Back! was nothing short of the joyfully militant & orgiastically unhinged gathering it advertised itself to be– queer AF, silly, sexy & sketchy antics ensued almost every day/nite. A lot of us felt held in an urban space where there was room to be all kinds of things & ways, & not much was taboo.

We loved the topless beach party where a group of raucous queers ran off some bro fux filming & subsequently got froggy with the cops, and the “gay bloc” nite time caper that targeted Cop City supporters such as AT&T & chase bank showing solidarity with the DTF struggle by attacking these facilities which resulted in a plethora of smashed windows, graffitied walls, and smoke bombs flung into these buildings! That shit was a real gas!

Let us not forget the epic rave in a rad ramshackle squatted warehouse, where as the night dragged on, the drugs kicked in, people got wilder and looked for more things to smash & bash within and around the rave building itself; a naked homie clad only in a balaclava smashed a nearby street camera, cause fuck surveillance in general!

These are all raw & inspiring tidbits from Bash Back! that help elucidate their queer ultraviolence stance; it’s comforting to know that Bash Back! folks are not the type to leave you standing there all alone when it’s time to throw bricks through that Starbucks window.

Prime Minister’s House Burned in Uprising Against Negotiations with Israel in Libya

Protesters set fire to the house of Libyan unity prime minister Abdul Hamid Dbeidé overnight from Sunday to Monday and stormed the headquarters of the foreign ministry. Protesters wrote “Down with the government of traitors” on the walls of the ministry’s headquarters, while gunshots were heard inside the building. Demonstrations were also reported in other cities outside of Tripoli and roads were blocked.

These protests and others erupted in the country, after the foreign minister met in Italy with his Israeli counterpart, when relations between the two countries are non-existent. Libya does not recognize the State of Israel and is a historical ally of the Palestinian cause. The Libyan Prime Minister announced the suspension of the functions of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Montreuil: La Baudrière under eviction threat from august 21st

Why defend La Baudrière

La Baudrière is an anarcha-feminist queer* squat that opened in November 2021 in Montreuil (a city located in Paris’ suburbs). A lot of people meet here, they come for a few hours, a few days or a few weeks. They came there to live, to learn, to party, to organize. La Baudrière is full of their memories.

Now, eviction is looming, and for us, who use this place in so many different ways, it is time for us to defend this space.

We are calling any non-cis het men to colelctively defend La Baudrière, from the 21st of August onwards.

Here are some of the reasons why we want to resist. Down with the landlords and the evictors, down with the gentrifiers !

Captive Comrade D. Chatzivasileiadis: 31/7/16 Attack on the Mexican Embassy – 1/8/23 Lorenzo Cruz Ríos, the Fight for Land and Freedom Continues

On the 31st of July 2016, the Organization Revolutionary Self-Defence used weapons to attack the Mexican embassy in Athens, shooting rounds at the embassy building. This second political intervention of Org. Revolutionary Self-Defence revealed that the first intervention two years ago, against the law for type C prisons and the war against the proletariat and migration was not an occasional act, even though it was an emergency response to the need to resist an antirevolutionary measure, but a practical statement of commitment to a strategy of revolutionary fight. Revolutionary internationalism remains a need from the future world that we have to take care of through acts. Seven years after the immediate response of Org. Revolutionary Self-Defence against the Μexican state, my thoughts are with Lorenzo Froylán de la Cruz Ríos, member of the native Communal Guard self-defense team of Santa María Ostula in Michoacán, who disappeared on the 1st of August and was found murdered ten days later, my thoughts are with the social struggles in the mexican territory, the zapatistas resistance against the “Maya” train and the para-state murders of fighters, the movement against the inter-oceanic corridor[1], the movement against the Nicaragua canal, the indigenous people rebellion in Puno[2] and the fighting Indigenous Association for Development and Conservation of Bajo Puinahua (Aidecobap)[3], the fighting communities of Sucre Colombia[4], the fights for Land and freedom everywhere jointly.

Call to Struggle Around Bartram’s and Against the Proposal for “Cellicon Valley” – Philadelphia, PA

Development is officially moving forward – though very slowly – in destroying the alluring wastelands of Bartram’s North, the wooded riverside area just north of Bartram’s Gardens in Southwest Philly. For years, this area has been a favorite hangout spot for anarchists, ravers, feminist nude sunbathers, and other companions in being up to no good. Within the past eight months, a fence has gone up – twice – around the fields adjacent to the bike path that runs through the area, and a nearby building is slated to be demolished at the end of July. Earlier that month, three surveillance cameras were installed high up along Botanic Ave, the street that leads up to Bartram’s North. An unpermitted rave at Bartram’s in mid-July was reportedly broken up by police, which was to our knowledge the first time cops had kicked a party out of that location.
