RECLAIM THE POWER ACTION CAMP ANNOUNCED

Reclaim the Power has sent us a call to join their action camp in august this year fighting back against Drax, a company chopping woods and burning trees under the disguise of bio fuel who is also the single largest carbon emitter in the UK. Read their words below:
“Reclaim the Power Action Camp 8-13th August

Reclaim the Power is back this summer with a mass protest camp for climate justice. As a decade old direct action network we will welcome new faces and old to a mass action camp targeting Drax – the biggest emitter in the UK, the world’s biggest burner of trees and a key driver of environmental racism.

Join hundreds (hopefully thousands) of others from across the country and further afield for six days of workshops, communal living and action to fight the greenwashing eco-genocide of Drax. We will be camping from the 8-13th of August and attendance is entirely free, supported by donations.

‘Sabotage’: Nails driven into tree trunks at future Quebec EV battery plant site

MONTREAL — Swedish manufacturer Northvolt AB says the site of its future electric vehicle battery plant near Montreal was sabotaged after nails were driven into trees that are set to be cut down.

Northvolt spokesperson Emmanuelle Rouillard-Moreau says nails or metal bars were inserted into about 100 trees Monday night at its 170-hectare site that straddles the communities of McMasterville and St-Basile-le-Grand.

The company said in an email that such tactics can carry “significant risks for the safety of workers and surrounding communities.”

An anonymous group claimed responsibility on an anarchist website, saying the motive for their “sabotage” was to protest a megaproject they say will destroy woods and wetlands and perpetuate car culture. Writing on website Montreal Counter-Information, they said putting the “steel bars and nails” in the tree trunks was an attempt to damage heavy machinery and make the forest tougher and costlier to log.

“Today, we call for a broad mobilization against the destructive project of the Northvolt mega-factory,” they wrote. “We must attack this machine that grinds up the living by targeting its weak points.”

Federal Innovation Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne denounced the alleged sabotage as “completely unacceptable.”

“In a free and democratic society, people have the right to express themselves,” he said in Montreal, adding that “if people have objections to make, there are other ways to do it.”

Champagne described Northvolt’s decision to build a $7-billion electric battery plant near Quebec as a “generational opportunity” and that the company is conscious of the environment.

Northvolt announced the project late last year, which it claims will represent the largest private investment in Quebec’s history.

The company also confirmed Tuesday that work remains suspended on the site following an injunction request by an environmental rights group, the Centre quebecois du droit de l’environnement, and three citizens. The plaintiffs argue the future facility sits on land that is environmentally sensitive and home to several endangered species.

A hearing on the injunction was expected to happen Tuesday but was instead postponed to the following day after a request made by the City of St-Basile-le-Grand and an agreement between the parties, Northvolt said.

In the meantime, Quebec Superior Court Justice David R. Collier has ordered the company not to cut down any trees in or within 500 metres of wetlands until the case is heard.

Berlin, Germany: Against environmental destruction, oppression and war – fire for CEMEX concrete plan

Inspired by a series of actions and sabotages against “the world of concrete” in France (2), Belgium and Switzerland, we visited the CEMEX concrete plant on Schleusenufer in Berlin-Kreuzberg in the early hours of December 27 and used fire to stop several concrete mixer trucks and bring the conveyor belt and a technical building to a standstill.

A master among the climate killers

The wasteland of concrete and asphalt continues to spread. In Germany alone, up to 30 hectares of living soil are buried under the most sought-after building material every day. Roads, squares, commercial areas, industrial plants and houses; huge parts of the earth’s surface are already sealed and infrastructure projects such as dams, freeways, bridges, airports etc. consume several billion tons of concrete every year.

All this is not without consequences. Concrete is considered the climate killer par excellence. Almost 10 percent of the carbon dioxide that this system currently blows into the air comes from the cement industry. That is almost three times as much as air traffic. At the same time, concrete production consumes enormous amounts of resources. Sand in particular, which is essential for production, is already in short supply, which is why coastal areas and sometimes entire islands are being dredged worldwide. With devastating effects on the surrounding ecosystems. The increasing sealing of soils also has catastrophic consequences. Urban areas are heating up more and more, while rainwater can no longer seep into the ground. Groundwater reservoirs are not filling up as before, which will lead to water shortages in many places in the long term or has already done so. Drought and aridity are the result of this on the one hand, while flooding and erosion are occurring elsewhere due to increasingly frequent heavy rainfall. More than that, every additional meter of concrete destroys habitats and food sources. The loss of natural ground areas and the lack of vegetation lead to a decline in biodiversity, which has an impact on many animal and plant populations and will result in the extinction of individual species.

EARTH FIRST UK WINTERMOOT

WHAT: Weekend of workshops, discussion and gathering
WHERE: Sumac Centre, Nottingham UK.
WHEN: 9th – 11th February.

The Earth First UK’s winter moot date and location has been anounced, it will be hosted in the Sumac Centre (Nottingham UK) 9th-11th February.

As always, you can expect a weekend of workshops and talks, probably a party on the Saturday night and the opportunity to meet new and old friends to plot, conspire and relax.

Sleeping will be in communal areas ot the Sumac Centre, essentially indoors camping (so do not bring a tent! 

Three meals a day provided, but bring your own snacks if you feel peckish! EF! Collective asks to leave a donation at the door to cover costs, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Machines burned at Urban Alchemy construction site in north Portland

We burned bulldozers and excavators being used to build another Urban Alchemy site in North Portland, where homeless Portlanders will be sent to live behind chainlink fencing and barbed wire under threat of violence and sweeps.
UA says it “provide complementary strategies to conventional policing and security”, and, like police, it’s employees have consistently used their positions to bully, degrade, steal from, and sexually assault those living within their fences.
We do not believe the destruction of their machines will halt construction long, but hope to see increasing offensive attacks accompany strategies of sweep and eviction defense.
The city will pay $40,000 per person per year for the planned site, far more expensive than renting each person their own apartment.
Of course, the city government is happy to pay a premium for ghettoization, pushing the most visible poor out of sight, out of mind, isolated from the rest of the city in an industrial corner behind the city’s waste processing facility.

Kalkan: Guerrillas Are Revealing a New Style of Warfare

Duran Kalkan, member of the KCK Executive Council, talke about the latest developments in Kurdistan, Turkey and the Middle East.

Kalkan said: “The course of the war has now changed. The policies followed by the Turkish state, this AKP-MHP administration, can no longer withstand the guerrilla. On the contrary, the process of the guerrilla crushing them has begun. The guerrillas have taken the initiative. They are now running from success to success; and they will continue to do so.”

In the last few weeks, there have been very successful actions by the guerrilla forces that have dealt heavy blows to the Turkish army and have been widely discussed in the media. What can you tell us about this? What has changed? Will this continue? And how does the war affect the other players in the region?

On behalf of the leadership of the PKK, I congratulate the commanders and fighters of the ‘People’s Defence Forces’ (HPG) and ‘Free Women’s Units’ (YJA-Star) who carried out the revolutionary operation in the name of the martyr Helmet Dêrelûk. This operation has crushed the fascist hordes of the AKP-MHP on the Amediyê mountain in the region of Zap. Arson of Construction Machinery Believed To Be Connected To Cop City

Investigators are looking into the cause of several fires at a construction site early Friday morning in southeast Atlanta.
The fire reportedly started around 5 a.m. at what appears to be new townhomes being built in a community called Empire Zephyr.

The equipment pictured is owned by Brent Scarbrough, the contractor for the police training facility, Cop City.
The regional president of Empire Communities, Paul Corely, sits on the board of the APF and the company contributes financially.

Crews were called to 543 Burroughs Street NE for a reported fire just before 5 a.m. The Atlanta Police Department says officers responded and found several pieces of construction equipment on fire. The Atlanta Fire Rescue Department also responded, along with the FBI and ATF. The ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives) is a federal agency that works with local law enforcement to investigate arson among other crimes.

Atlanta Fire Chief Roderick Smith and Police Chief Darin Schierbaum held a news conference on Friday and called this an arson attack. They said four pieces of construction equipment were damaged by this morning’s fires at the construction site, and early indications are that these fires are connected to the protests of the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center.

Switch off Autobahn GmbH (Hannover, Germany)

In the early morning of January 18, 2024, a fire broke out on the premises of the Lower Saxony Traffic Management Center in Hanover, where a car belonging to Autobahn GmbH caught fire.

“The night after the eviction of Tümpel Town, we went out and dedicated a car from Autobahn GmbH to the fire.

Autobahn GmbH is a target that is responsible for so many ecocides, evictions of forest occupations and industrial destruction.

With our action, we are sending a message of complicity with the struggle for Tümpel Town and expanding the area of struggle!

But we will not remain passive and put ourselves in the hands of the henchmen and the repressive, murderous, racist system.

We will find our answer to the destruction in a direct, anonymous attack against the existing conditions and will not allow ourselves to be controlled.

FIRE TO THE FOREST DESTROYERS

You dumb motherfuckers left your feller buncher near the highway where everyone could see it lit the fuck up in the night sky. You’re all fucking losers and we hope the extra rain sank its lifeless corpse so deep in the mud that it takes weeks to get it out.

To everyone else,
There is still a forest to defend, and some of us intend to do so with or without a “movement” to back us up. There is more to the Weelaunee forest than the section that is fenced off and under 24/7 police occupation. We vowed to defend the forest from Blackhall too. No matter what the project is, anything destroying forests must be met with the same rage, hostility, and violence. Weelaunee is our home and we will not abandon it.

Fuck a feller buncher. Fuck Shadowbox Studios. Hollywood will burn wherever it decides to go, as will the pigs trying to protect it.

Pictured below is a visual representation of the region of woods under threat. There is still much to lose, but also many opportunities to strike. Take them.

Two Nationwide Offices Smashed for the Day of the Forest Defender

To all those on the run, locked up, feeling the weight of the repression; to those making plans and getting organized:

On the night of January 18th, 2024, one year after our comrade Tortuguita was murdered at the hands of Georgia State Patrol, we coordinated an attack on two Nationwide subsidiaries in Atlanta, GA. We used hammers to break the facade windows at the two locations. Nationwide Insurance is the main insurance provider for Cop City. We encourage Nationwide to cancel their contract with the Atlanta Police Foundation.

We conducted these actions on the Day of the Forest Defender, to honor the memory of Tortuguita. If you are scared, know that we are scared too. But our fear of repression is surpassed by our fear of doing nothing. Power concedes nothing without a struggle. Tortuguita was a brave forest defender with a heart of gold, and we honor their memory through direct action.

TORTUGUITA VIVE. LA LUCHA SIGUE.
