We Call for the Continuation of Strikes Against American Interests in the Region: PFLP Statement

The Popular Front praises the resistance’s killing of American soldiers at the Al-Tanf base and asserts that it is a natural response to American crimes in the region.

The Popular Front lauded the heroic operation targeting the American base at Al-Tanf, located on the Syrian-Jordanian border, which resulted in the death of three American soldiers and the injury of dozens. This was a natural response to American crimes in the region and its direct involvement in the zionist genocidal war waged by the zionist entity against the Palestinian people.

The Front saluted the proud arms of the resistance, which refused anything but triumphing for the suffering of our Palestinian people and responding to the ongoing zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip by targeting American and Western presence in the region since the start of the aggression. The moment has come for the United States to pay for its crimes against the peoples of the region, as a direct partner in the heinous zionist crimes against the Palestinian people, and its unlimited support for the zionist entity.

The Front highlighted the significance of this qualitative operation not only because it was the first to officially announce the killing of American soldiers since the onset of the aggression on the Gaza Strip, but also for because of resistance’s ability and boldness in targeting military bases of the most powerful brute force in the world.

The Front stressed that America ignored the warnings of the resistance and the calls of Arab and free peoples to stop its support for the aggression and turn its back on everything happening in Palestine, including the genocide and massacres. Therefore, it must bear responsibility for these devastating outcomes in the region and receive expect responses from the resistance for these crimes.

The Front concluded its statement by calling on resistance factions in the region to continue striking American and Western interests, viewing this as the effective means to stop American support for the zionist entity and to abandon its colonial ambitions in the region.

Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger Exit Colonial ECOWAS Alliance

The governments in Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger on Sunday declared their prompt exit from the West African, US-EU aligned bloc, ECOWAS.

The leaders of the three Sahel nations released a statement, asserting that their departure from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is a “sovereign decision” to be executed “without delay.”

Facing challenges from the ongoing insurgencies and economic hardship, the governments have experienced strained relations with ECOWAS, particularly following the overthrow of the Western backed regimes in Niger in July of last year, Burkina Faso in 2022, and Mali in 2020.

All three nations were suspended from ECOWAS, with Niger and Mali enduring substantial sanctions.

Alliance of the Sahel States

In recent months, these countries have solidified their stances and formed an “Alliance of Sahel States.”

The withdrawal of French military forces from the Sahel, the region along the Sahara desert across Africa, has raised concerns about the potential spread of conflicts southward to Gulf of Guinea states, including Ghana, Togo, Benin, and Ivory Coast.

The prime minister appointed by Niger’s new government criticized ECOWAS for “bad faith” on Thursday, expressing dissatisfaction as the bloc largely avoided a scheduled meeting in Niamey.

Niger expected a chance to address differences with fellow ECOWAS states, but the organization had been distant, subjecting Niamey to substantial economic and financial sanctions in response to the ousting of former President Mohamed Bazoum.

On July 30th, 2023, ECOWAS (the Economic Community of West African States) froze Niger’s assets, imposed sanctions on the junta officials, and gave a stern warning of military intervention if the former government is not restored within a week’s deadline.

Correspondingly, the junta took a set of measures to consolidate its power and fortify its anti-imperialist stance: halting uranium and gold exports to Europe, revoking all military deals with France, and blocking French media platforms France24 and RFI. Additionally, the military leaders warned France and ECOWAS against any military intervention: stressing that they will “resolutely defend their homeland.”

Regional countries have also taken opposing stances on Niger. Original members of the Western-backed ECOWAS bloc such as Senegal have affirmed their commitment to partake in the military intervention.

Mali and Burkina Faso who had also defected from the Western bloc vehemently opposed the threat of military intervention against Niger saying they would consider it a declaration of war against their respective nations if the ECOWAS bloc went through with the threatened military intervention.

Kalkan: Guerrillas Are Revealing a New Style of Warfare

Duran Kalkan, member of the KCK Executive Council, talke about the latest developments in Kurdistan, Turkey and the Middle East.

Kalkan said: “The course of the war has now changed. The policies followed by the Turkish state, this AKP-MHP administration, can no longer withstand the guerrilla. On the contrary, the process of the guerrilla crushing them has begun. The guerrillas have taken the initiative. They are now running from success to success; and they will continue to do so.”

In the last few weeks, there have been very successful actions by the guerrilla forces that have dealt heavy blows to the Turkish army and have been widely discussed in the media. What can you tell us about this? What has changed? Will this continue? And how does the war affect the other players in the region?

On behalf of the leadership of the PKK, I congratulate the commanders and fighters of the ‘People’s Defence Forces’ (HPG) and ‘Free Women’s Units’ (YJA-Star) who carried out the revolutionary operation in the name of the martyr Helmet Dêrelûk. This operation has crushed the fascist hordes of the AKP-MHP on the Amediyê mountain in the region of Zap. I salute their historic resistance, their historic resistance that dealt a fatal blow to fascism, their historic resistance, the whole war waged in Zap. I, also, respectfully, gratefully and by expressing my love, commemorate all our heroic martyrs who were martyred by fighting against the colonization of the Medya Defense Zones and all over Kurdistan, by commemorating the comrades Serxwebûn and Rizgar, the heroic martyrs who gave their lives in this operation.

The guerrillas have always resisted and are resisting. But the past months were a period of significant changes in the war. Even the Turkish rulers had to admit this. “We have switched from defense to offense,” is what they said. Once again, they also praised their techniques a lot. ‘We have such and such a technique, such and such a national technique,’ they would boast. One of their techniques crashed. The friends who examined it say that it is in four pieces, each piece is produced by a different country. None of them are made in Turkey. That’s how domestic and national they are. Turkish society, public opinion is being deceived. And they therefore use the technique like a stick. They got it from NATO, and from everywhere else. They gave them all the means of Turkey and used them like a stick. We told them this: This is not only in your hands, someone else can learn it and use it against you. Now Kurdish youth have learned and they are using it. It is obvious what they have become. We have always warned them, we said that they could be defeated, that they were acting dangerously. They did not listen to the warnings of our ‘Central People’s Defense Command’ (NPG). Now they are experiencing this. In the middle of winter, they scattered and threw those fascist hordes that they had paid for on the tops of the mountains. Now they can’t protect them, they can’t even pull them back. Then, of course, when they are shot, they act surprised, and say that traitors came and shot them. How did they come and shoot them? Which traitor are you talking about? Why did you go there in the first place? This is the situation.

Colombia Extends Ceasefire With ELN Guerrillas for 6 Months

Colombia’s government agreed Tuesday to extend a cease-fire with the National Liberation Army (ELN), the nation’s largest remaining armed rebel group, for six months.

“There is already an agreement. Now the government needs to issue the decree so they (ELN) can give the order for a cease-fire,” said the High Commissioner for Peace, Otty Patino, speaking from the Colombian Pacific, where President Gustavo Petro’s Cabinet moved to work this week.

The agreement represents an extension of the cease-fire signed between the government and the guerrilla group on Aug. 3 last year.

The first six months of the cease-fire have resulted in a notable reduction in violence between the parties.

After more than a year of talks that have taken place in Cuba, Venezuela and Mexico, the Colombian government and guerrilla delegations began the sixth cycle of peace talks this week in Havana. Last week, Petro nominated Vatican City as the venue for a next round of peace talks with the ELN after meeting with Pope Francis in Rome.

The talks have suffered other setbacks, including Petro’s Dec. 31 announcement about a six-month cease-fire with the ELN, which the guerrilla group denied three days later.

The agreement is part of Petro’s “total peace” policy, an attempt to demobilize all of the country’s remaining rebel groups to resolve a conflict dating back to the 1960s.

Clashes between Military and Residents of Chicomuselo, Chiapas; Opposition to Entry of Armed Forces

January 16th, 2024 Residents of the Nueva América community in Chicomuselo, Chiapas, clashed with elements of the Army and the National Guard, as they reject their entry into the area. They ask the authorities to act against the perpetrators of violence and not against the population.

Chicomuselo is threatened by the Jalisco New Generation (CJNG) and Sinaloa (CDS) cartels, who have caused clashes despite the fact that the Chiapas Prosecutor’s Office assures that there is calm in the area.

This Tuesday the armed forces entered the communities of Chegel, Socoltenango, Puerto Rico, Nueva América, among others, which have resisted forced recruitment and displacement caused by criminal groups.

Residents of Nueva América in Chicomuselo Demand Halt to Attacks

In a statement signed by the civil society of the town of Chicomuselo, they called to address the violence in the communities, not only caused by organized crime but “now by the attack of the armed forces who are violating the civil society that has “decided to protect their towns from the growing violence.”

They explained that hundreds of people are fleeing the communities after the entry of the armed forces, as the authorities are accusing them of being part of a criminal group.

“They broke into the Nueva América ejido, removed the fences with which it had been secured to prevent the entry of the cartels, they fired tear gas and threatened the population, pointing out that they had identified some of them.”

In videos released, a group of farmers can be seen avoiding the passage of the military and trying to talk. Given this, a commander threatened the inhabitants.

“The problem is you cowards. Because they you afraid of two or three armed people. For that you must unite. And there are two or three, like you, like you bastard, who has the muzzle on your face. You are the one who pressures them or what? Take off the bandana. Don’t hide.”

“You who was also shouting Don’t you dare do it again, I know who you are, I know who you are bastard. I am going to enter the town and the others,” said the soldier.

In the statement, the residents of Nueva América in Chicomuselo criticized that the authorities are not protecting the places where criminal groups are or freeing blocked roads “but they are entering the communities where people are organized to take care of their ejidos.”

They also denounced forced migration due to violence in at least 27 communities.

For its part, the Chiapas Prosecutor’s Office stated that “thanks to the coordination with the authorities of the three levels of government, calm prevails and the safety is guaranteed” of the inhabitants of Chicomuselo.

Residents Denounce Violence in Chicomuselo; Prosecutor’s Office Cl thereaims There Is Calm

Although residents of Chicomuselo, Chiapas, reported that on January 4th, a confrontation between organized crime groups left more than 20 dead, the State Prosecutor’s Office indicated that in the municipality “calm prevails.

In a statement released by the Diocese of San Cristóbal de las Casas, the inhabitants of Chicomuselo indicated that in the Nueva Morelia ejido, alleged members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the Sinaloa Cartel (CS) clashed for seven hours.

Due to these events, they report, there were more than 20 deaths, including two civilians whose bodies could not be recovered by their families, in addition to the fact that a day later, on January 5th, they had to leave the community.

Residents pointed out that on December 26th, the CJNG evicted the community of Limonar and that they hold the municipal seat with checkpoints, blockades and checks on citizens.

Increase in Violence in Chiapas: Clashes, Murders and Displacement

Violence in Chiapas has increased in the state in recent years, despite the fact that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador maintains that it is one of the least violent states and with the greatest benefits from his government.

Data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System show an increase in intentional homicides in Chiapas since 2020, where it registered 419; in 2021 there were 429; and a drop in 2022 with 377.

However, as of November 2023, at least 457 intentional homicides had occurred in Chiapas, an increase of 17% compared to 2022, without the murders of last December still being considered.

On September 29th, more than 200 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) issued a statement in which they condemned the violence in the state and accused authorities of permissiveness and complicity with organized crime groups such as the CS and CJNG.

Meanwhile, on October 9th, hundreds of people came out to demand security and attention from the authorities due to the violence in the border area with Guatemala, in Frontera Comalapa, Chicomuselo, Siltepec, Mazapa de Madero, Amatenango de la Frontera, Bellavista, La Grandeza , El Porvenir, among other municipalities.

MLKP Statement on Palestinian Resistance

Like all freedom struggles, the Palestinian resistance is being realized at a very heavy price. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), one of the leading forces in the struggle against “Israel’s” racist, colonialist, fascist, genocidal war and occupation, is resurrecting its historical revolutionary traditions in the trenches of the resistance.

The students and comrades-in-arms of Comrade Abu Ali Mustafa are fighting for their lives in Gaza against the racist colonialist “Israeli” state. The leading fighters of sacrifice, of commitment to the people’s right to a dignifed, free and happy life, of longing for a democratic Middle East and a socialist world, immortalized in this just, necessary and moral struggle, as members of the PFLP Central Committee and revolutionary leaders of Gaza.

We bow with respect, devotion and love to the memory of Ayman Naim Said Al-Medhun (Abu Muhammad), commander of the PFLP and Awad Al-Sultan (Abu Samoud), member of the PFLP General Central Committee and head of the Martyrs, Prisoners and Wounded Committee and all the Palestinian martyrs.

The flag they raised in Gaza will be waved throughout the Middle East and will continue to shine even in the darkest days as a guide to a democratic and socialist future based on the free unity of the Arab, Kurdish, Assyrian, Chaldean, Armenian, Chechen, Jewish, Turkmen, Circassian, and Druze peoples.

The brave resistance of the Palestinian people against the offensive launched by the racist colonialist Zionist “Israeli” state with the political and military support of the international counter-revolution continues.

Led by the united anti-colonialist forces of October 7th, the resistance is once against rising on the shoulders of the immortals. While the Palestinian people refuse to submit to the colonial occupation at the costs of tens of thousands of martyrs, the PFLP and the DFLP are fighting with unlimited revolutionary sacrifice and determination as vanguard units and political-military command centers.

Despite the political and military support of the imperialist centers, especially the US, Britain, Germany and France, the colonial apartheid regime is suffering heavy casualties and internal crises. The fascist psychological warfare based on lies is losing its effect more and more every day.  The solidarity of the world working class and the oppressed with the anti-colonial Palestinian resistance is growing and strengthening.

We call on the world working class and the oppressed, especially the youth and women’s sections, to uninterruptedly continue and strengthen solidarity with the Palestinian resistance against the racist, colonialist and fascist genocidal occupation attack of Zionist “Israel.”

We call on communist, revolutionary and consistent antifascist parties, groups and circles to step forward as organizers, vanguards and guides of this solidarty.

Towards Freedom and Victory in the Footsteps of the Immortals!

A Thousand Salutes to the Resisting and Fighting Palestinian People, to the Wounded and Captive Palestinians!

However, the statements of the fascist AKP-MHP regime, its authorities and the Turkish army are completely false.
